Las Eras is one of the most beautiful land-based dive sites in Tenerife. Las Eras is located about 45 minutes by motorway from our base and is the furthest dive site we reach. The entry is via a beach protected from the waves by a large artificial barrier. The dive point within the barrier is only 3m deep. Diving around the barrier, we reach the edge of the reef, which drops from about 6m to 15m.
The porous volcanic rock here has been eroded everywhere, creating huge overhangs that can be dived and where fish hide. A long tunnel between the rocks leads from a starting point at just 12m depth for about 30-40m to a basin with a deep cut in the reef. In front of the cliff edge with its overhangs, the volcanic rock cascades down streams and terraces to depths of up to 30m.
This dive site is ideal for beginners due to the easy entry and the shallow depth of the interesting cliff edge, as well as for advanced divers who will find many interesting creatures and a spectacular underwater landscape.
Flora & Fauna
Lots of trumpetfish, schools of bream and barracuda, but also groupers, octopuses, cuttlefish, moray eels and sometimes rays.
