Terrain
Radazul is one of the most popular and most dived sites in Tenerife. This is primarily due to its very sheltered location. The sea in this bay is almost always calm and perfect for diving. When the weather is bad on the island, all the dive centers converge here, as the water is still good enough for diving.
Radazul offers both perfect, easy access to the water and shallow areas for beginner programs, as well as quickly accessible depths for challenging dives for advanced divers. The bottom consists of heaped basalt to protect the harbor facilities and the shoreline, and a large amount of sand.
Dives are possible here to depths of 5m, 12m, 18m, and over 40m, just 5 minutes from shore. The diversity of fish and species found here in the clear and calm water is always impressive. Thanks to the easy access via paved stairs and ramps with railings, this site is ideal for training and night dives.
At a depth of 35 meters, we find a reef on one side, which drops down to a depth of 55 meters over a volcanic cliff. On the other side, we find a memorial at 35 meters, reminding all divers of the dangers of deep diving. We like to use this memorial as a destination for our deep dives for the PADI AOWD or PADI Deep Diver.
[The inscription reads: Diver, respect the limits of safety, it could cost you your life! Cesar Lopez 04/22/95]
We always dive at this dive site when weather conditions do not permit diving in the north. We reach this dive site with our dive buses in about 30 minutes via the highway.
Flora & Fauna
In Radazul, we find a huge variety of fish and species. Blue fin damselfish, sardines, trumpetfish, filefish, and barracudas are everywhere. We also often find triggerfish, anemones, crabs, cleaner shrimp, octopus, cuttlefish, and all kinds of rays. We've also encountered turtles, sunfish, and manta rays in this bay.
