Dive Site Bastion

The Bastion is just a 10-minute boat ride from the port of Puerto de la Cruz. The reef near the coast consists of typical volcanic basalt formations, hexagonal lava columns, drop-offs, bridges, and tunnels. We drop the anchor here very shallow, between 12 and 15 meters. In front of the reef, there is a sandy area with a depth of up to 25 meters. This dive site is suitable for both beginners and advanced divers. We often visit the "Bastion" as the second dive site of the day. The name of this dive site derives from the volcanic formations that resemble a medieval defense system. The formations resemble towers, drawbridges, columns, gateways, etc.

The reef offers several tunnel-like passages that are large enough to accommodate several divers side by side.

Here we find sardines, parrotfish, goatfish, grunts, goldfin tuna, bream, often rays, slipper lobsters and even the occasional angel shark.
